How to take measurements?

It is known that for tailoring of a product it is necessary to take measurements. However, not everyone knows how to measure correctly. Let's consider in detail how to do this for sewing men's and women's clothing.

How to measure with a woman?

To remove the measurements, you must stand straight and do not strain the body. You will need to set the following parameters using the measuring tape:

  1. Circumference of neck. It should be measured at the base of the neck. The neck is wrapped around the ribbon in such a way that from the front side it joins with its other end over the jugular cavity. In this case, the measuring tape should lie on the body tightly, but do not press on the skin.
  2. Chest circumference. You should grab the bulging points with the tape, that is, you need to measure along the nipple line. In the dorsal zone, the tape should be located on the shoulder blades.
  3. Breast height. It is necessary to determine the distance from the neck to the center of the nipple, starting from its base.
  4. Breast width. The tape should be placed in a horizontal position 2 cm above the armpits and calculate the distance between them. Make sure that the tape is tight, but not squeezing the body.
  5. Breast center. It is measured when the tape is horizontalmeasuresbetween the nipples. It is necessary to determine the distance between them.
  6. Waist circumference. To measure this parameter, it is necessary to wrap the tape around the trunk in the waist zone.
  7. Hip girth. The tape needs to be wrapped around the trunk in the widest area of the thighs. At the front, it should lie at the most prominent point of the abdomen, and behind it on the protruding part of the buttocks.
  8. Girth for the length of the product. This parameter is required to measure the length of the blouse or other clothing. The measuring tape should be wrapped around the torso at the level at which you want to see the length of the future product.
  9. The width of the back. To clarify this parameter, you will need to place the tape on your back horizontally and determine the distance between the armpits from the back side.
  10. Length of back. It is necessary to mark the waist with the help of a tape in the horizontal state. Then, place a measured length to the beginning of the neck from the back and measure the length to the beginning of the waist.

In addition, you may need other parameters for different products:

  1. Circumference of the biceps. It is necessary to wrap the measuring tape of the biceps in its widest part.
  2. Circumference of the wrist. It is necessary to wrap the wrist with a measuring tape to measure the width of the sleeve.
  3. Girth of the forearm. The tape covers the zone 4-5 cm below the elbow fold.
  4. Length of shoulder slope. The tape for measurement is located at a distance between the base of the neck and the beginning of the shoulder.
  5. The length of the sleeve. It is necessary that the hand is in a free, slightly curved state. You need to calculate the distance from the beginning of the shoulder to the wrist (with a long sleeve) or to the point where the sleeve ends (at your discretion).

How to measure with a man?

For a man, it is necessary to clarify almost the same parameters as in the case of female measures, with only a few exceptions. Here is the instruction for taking measurements from a man:

  1. Circumference of neck. The neck should be wrapped around the ribbon in such a way that it is connected from the front of the edge over the jugular cavity.
  2. Chest circumference. Stick the dots with the tape. In the zone of the back, the tape should lie on the shoulder blades rather tightly, but without tension.
  3. Breast width. The tape should be placed in a horizontal position 2 cm above the armpits and determine the distance between them.measures
  4. Waist circumference. It is necessary to wrap the tape around the torso in the waist zone.
  5. Hip girth. The tape should be wrapped in the widest area of the hips.
  6. The width of the back. For this parameter, you need to place the tape in a horizontal position on the back and measure the distance between the armpits from behind.
  7. Length of back. It is necessary to set the tape to the beginning of the neck from behind and measure the length to the waist.
  8. Circumference of the wrist. It is necessary to wrap the tape around the wrist.
  9. Circumference of the biceps. It is necessary to wrap the ribbon with the biceps in its widest part.
  10. The length of the sleeve. The hand should be in a slightly curved state. It is necessary to determine the distance from the beginning of the shoulder to the point where the sleeve is supposed to end.
