Oregano (or common oregano) is a type of perennial herbs that is actively used in cooking, medicine and cosmetology. In Russia, oregano grows in almost all districts of the country, only it is often called oregano, motherboard, incense, sowing or maceration. Oregano - Appearance
Oregano has a branched rhizome, soft-stem, oblong leaves and small purple-pink flowers. In height, the plant usually reaches 50-70 cm. Oregano can grow in the fields in the wild, and can also be cultivated. Oregano is an unpretentious plant, it does not like only clay and acidic soils, and therefore it is quite simple to grow it. Of course, the plant will not interfere with additional mineral fertilizers and watering, but even without this you can get a good harvest.
Oregano as seasoning
Oregano is widely used in cooking, especially the Italians love this seasoning.You can add oregano to almost any dish - fish, meat, salad, pizza, sauce, etc. In addition, it can be used for canning. Olives and cucumbers are preserved in Europe with oregano. Oregano goes well with potatoes and omelettes.
The taste of oregano is called warm, pungent and bitter, but it is, of course, possible to evaluate it only with a direct test. This seasoning can be added to dishes in both fresh and dry form. Dry oregano should be stored in a tightly closed container in a dark place.
Oregano as medicine
Oregano is also widely used in medicine, especially the oil made from this plant is appreciated. It is believed that oregano oil kills germs more effective than antibiotics, however, it is not recommended to prescribe it yourself, after all, this is quite a strong drug, and it is important to choose the right dosage.
However, no one forbids drinking herbal preparations from oregano, which are very effective in strengthening immunity, as well as in combating inflammatory processes. You can prepare the collection yourself, but it's much easier, of course, to buy at the pharmacy. The collection of oregano, yarrow and St. John's wort is recommended for immunity, the collection of oregano and chamomile - as a strong anti-inflammatory.

There was a place for oregano in cosmetology: by mixing this plant with various components, you can get excellent face masks.
Mask recipe for oily skin - 2 tablespoons of oregano brew in a glass of boiling water, mix with the protein of one egg and apply on face for 20-30 minutes.
Mask recipe for any type of skin - mix oregano, mint, dill, celery, parsley, lavender and sage, pour olive oil and insist in a dark place for 10 days. You can use the mask for both face and hands. Apply for 20 minutes, rinse with warm water.
