What should be the site?
The question of what the site should be is largely debatable, but some of the requirements for the sites are unchanged, and we would be talking about them.
What should be on the site?
Perhaps the most important thing in a good website is its content or, as they say, content. And such content should be necessarily homogeneous, that is, correspond to a well-defined topic or at least close topics. Agree, it is strange to see on the website dedicated to pets, an article about some computer shooter. It would be much more appropriate to give a description of the game about the treatment of animals on such a site, or, at worst, the addition to the game Sims - Pets (Pets), if you really want the topic of computer games to be presented on the site. Another unfortunate example: we go to the site dedicated to the Russian language, and there is a lot of political information. After all, we went to read about the rules, about grammar, to find interesting books and articles about the language - as a last resort, about other languages, but in no case what political party will win the next elections or what has been said about the next Middle East conflict foreign minister.
The key to success is a dedicated website.
Why did I give you these examples? Because the most important thing when creating a good site (and we don’t consider another here) is its target audience, those visitors who, having visited it once, will stay on it for a long time, ideally - for a few years. And this can be achieved only strictly following the theme of the site. And notice that the more specific it is, the more likely it is to attract visitors to the site. Make a website about computer games - there should be only them. If you want to talk about movies - create another site. Some create websites on a very narrow topic, but, as a rule, they pursue not only commercial objectives. If you need to create a selling site, determine one specific topic - not too narrow, but not too broad. For example, the same computer games - the topic is already very broad. Why not create a website dedicated to, for example, space simulators? Or business simulators? The same thing is the movie theme. There are a lot of movie sites today, and you take a website about melodramas or lyrical comedies. True, there are already enough of them today, but I think the idea is clear to you: we select a certain segment from a big topic that is close to you and create a website. You make a website about modular furniture - exclude, for example, furniture for the dacha or computer desks, and leave only the sets. You make a website about canaries - there is no need to write there about cats or dogs, such sites are the sea. Make a science fiction website - leave love stories, etc., etc., alone.
Today, thanks to the development of languages and programming systems, on sites you can find an incalculable number of various design "chips". Sometimes, you go to the site and think: for whom did you even do it? Incredible color mixing, everything shimmers, blinks. What do you think, how much the average visitor will stay on such a site? The most resistant - a maximum of half an hour, and most will be enough for one minute. Even if the site will be a lot of necessary information, but, for sure, there are other sites where you can get exactly the same information, but without an excess of “flash” and color riot. Hence the conclusion: the design of the site should be thought out both in color and in relation to various interactive elements - there should not be many of them. As for colors, you should not make the site too bright (if there is no valid reason), and you should not try to combine too many colors and shades in the design. Practice shows that 2-3 colors on the pages - the best option. If you so wish, play a little with shades of these colors. For example - blue, dark blue, blue, or black, gray, steel, or yellow, lemon, orange-yellow.
About flash animation and advertising
Modern flash animation can be very beautiful, but often the creators of sites go beyond the boundaries and then it becomes attractive from the attractive. If you really like the "special effects", put some beautiful flash drive on the title, but let it be unobtrusive and does not pop up on the whole screen when the user has found and reads the necessary information. And sometimes sometimes you miss sites written in good old HTML. Although they still occur and look, I must say where the sites filled with the flash are more solid, especially with the right choice of colors. It is also important to comply with the measure of the availability of advertising on the site. I used to use one service for uploading pictures, but for two years now I have been using others. Because on the old service there was such a quantity of all sorts of pop-up advertisements that any desire disappeared there, and its popularity dropped at times. Inscriptions like: "A trojan was found on your computer" or "Your page in contact was hacked" are especially annoying. What are they counting on? Although they accomplished one task with this ad with brilliance - they scared away all the normal visitors. And a few words about how the site should be in size.
What size of the site should be
In fact, the size of the number of pages can be anything. It all depends on the topic that you have chosen as the main one for creating the site. It is clear that the site about films will take much more space than the site about old buses, and the site dedicated to medicinal plants of any area will be several times smaller than the site dedicated to the cult computer game. Therefore, the number of pages does not matter. Much more important is the size of the page itself. It is desirable to carry out the layout of the site pages so that visitors use the scrolling function as little as possible - vertically or horizontally. Of course, it is not always possible to avoid this, but this should be pursued, and it is especially important that the page be placed on the monitor screen horizontally. I think now you understand what the site should be.
